The web interface can be accessed by specifying a URL that contains the name or IP address, plus port number, of the computer running the MonitorMagic web service. Examples Quick start guide (15 minutes) This section describes how to start using MonitorMagic immediately. It will take you only 15 minutes to setup a MonitorMagic service and configure some monitors, rules and alarm actions. reports. Prerequisites Make sure you have the latest version of MonitorMagic installed. The software is available from www.tools4ever.com. Log on as an administrator to a computer of one of the following types: Windows NT 4 workstation or server, any Windows 2000 version including: Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, or Windows 2000 Advanced server. MonitorMagic client Installation Install the MonitorMagic software on the computer. The MonitorMagic software is contained in the software package SetupMonitorMagic.exe. This package contains all of MonitorMagics' software components. MonitorMagic service installation Start the MonitorMagic client. When you run the MonitorMagic client for the 1st time a wizard will start which introduces the package. Run the wizard to start the introduction or continue by using the procedure described in this section to skip it. To skip the wizard answer no to the wizards' 1st question. The MonitorMagic client shows up with a screen that is mostly empty and a network browse window on the left. To run MonitorMagic you need to have at least one MonitorMagic service installed. To start installing the MonitorMagic service, browse to the machine you are working on, right click the machine name and select the menu option Setup service. 355
