MonitorMagic Pager - SMS adding provider configuration settings Pager - SMS message Pager - SMS installation and configuration overview The installation and configuration procedure to use pager - SMS message is simple and straightforward. To ease the installation and configuration procedure, MonitorMagic is capable of sending a test message to the pager - mobile telephone. Requirements You need to have a modem connected to the server or the server must have a built-in modem card. In case the modem is not already installed, you need to have the software to install the modem. The modem must be connected to a telephone line that is capable of calling an outside line. The MonitorMagic service must be running on the server. Installation and configuration procedure The following list summarizes the installation and configuration procedure to send pager - SMS messages. Install and configure the modem on the server. Note that you can also install the modem to a workstation. Configure the MonitorMagic service to use a provider to send pager - SMS messages. Note that MonitorMagic contains predefined configuration settings for many providers world-wide. If necessary, adjust the configuration settings of the provider. If necessary, configure the settings for your provider. This step is only required when MonitorMagic does not already contains the settings for your provider. Send a test message to your pager - mobile telephone. Configure alarm actions to send pager -SMS messages. The modem must be connected to the computer that runs the MonitorMagic service and the modem must be connected to a telephone line. The installation and configuration and the modem depends on the modem. For most modems, you can simply connect the modem to the computer and use the operating system software to detect and configure the modem. The Dialing properties are not used by MonitorMagic and do not need to be configured. Press the Properties button to specify the modem communication settings. Important: The modem communication settings depend on the provider used to send pager - SMS messages. MonitorMagic contains these communication settings for many providers. In case your provider is not listed, you should try the most common settings or contact your provider for more information. Select the speed to be used for the communication. As a general rule, 9600 baud is a good choice and works for most providers. But some providers require other speeds. 289
