Study Abroad Programs<br />

<strong>Flagler</strong> offers an array of opportunities for students to enhance learning through<br />

<br />

for overseeing and coordinating all study abroad programs, for providing students<br />

and faculty with information on such programs, and for conducting a mandatory<br />

<br />

during the summer term and during fall and spring semesters.<br />

All students must complete the <strong>College</strong>’s application for Study Abroad Programs<br />

before submitting an application for any of these programs and before attending the<br />

<br />

<br />

<strong>Flagler</strong> does not apply to students participating in an approved Study Abroad Program.<br />

Types of Study Abroad Programs: Six general types of study abroad<br />

programs are available:<br />

1. Students may register for one of the approved study abroad programs<br />

sponsored by one of the academic departments at <strong>Flagler</strong> <strong>College</strong>;<br />

2. Students may enroll directly in a foreign university as an occasional,<br />

transient, or special student;<br />

3. Students may enroll in a special program for foreign students at a<br />

foreign university;<br />

4. Students may enroll in a program sponsored by another U.S. college or<br />

university;<br />

5. Students may enroll in a program sponsored by an organization other<br />

than a college or university; or<br />

6. Students may enroll in an international or U.S. college located abroad.<br />

The basic criteria to qualify for any independent study abroad<br />

program is as follows:<br />

1. have sophomore standing with the completion of at least 45 credit hours;<br />

2. have a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 or higher;<br />

3. be a degree-seeking student;<br />

4. satisfy any departmental requirements;<br />

<br />

6. receive positive letters of recommendation, if required; and<br />

<br />

<br />

The above criteria also apply to <strong>Flagler</strong> <strong>College</strong> faculty led<br />

programs with one exception: <strong>Flagler</strong> <strong>College</strong> faculty led programs<br />

require the student to have attempted 24 credit hours.
