POS 241WI – Ethical Issues in the Judiciary (3)<br />

The primary objective of this course is for each student to develop an<br />

awareness of how ethical issues impact the courts and how the courts deal with<br />

those ethical issues. Those issues with which the judiciary deals–ranging from<br />

will be explored. Legal ethics will also be examined in some detail. This course<br />

is cross-listed as PLA 241.<br />

POS 301 – International Relations (3)<br />

An examination of the principles and concepts underlying the relations of the<br />

United States with other nations of the world.<br />

POS 325WI – Islam and Politics (3)<br />

What is Islam? What do people who call themselves Muslims believe, and<br />

what is the particular dynamic of their ethics and politics at this moment in<br />

time? These questions and others will be addressed in this course, which in the<br />

<br />

opportunity to read the Koran, and respond to some critical questions regarding<br />

the Muslim faith. In the second half of the course, important Islamic countries<br />

such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the Palestinians, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and<br />

Pakistan will be examined. <br />

POS 328 – Hinduism and India (3)<br />

This course will examine prominent religions and the politics of Hinduism<br />

and India. We will be concerned with the culture, religion, and political situations<br />

of India for the most part. Students should come to understand how interwoven<br />

the tapestry of religion, politics, and culture is in this area. Hinduism and the<br />

latter politics of India is of primary importance and the focus of this course –<br />

Buddhism and Islam as constituent elements of India’s history receive fuller<br />

attention in other courses. This course is cross listed with REL 328.<br />

POS 331 – Comparative Government (3)<br />

Prerequisite: POS 221. An introduction to comparative government; a study<br />

of the basic concepts of political science and government with emphasis on<br />

<br />

POS 332 – Political Science Scope and Methods (3)<br />

This course is designed to provide an introduction to a variety of empirical research<br />

methods used by political scientists. The primary aim of the course is to make students<br />

more sophisticated consumers of diverse empirical research and to allow them to<br />

conduct sophisticated independent work in the political science discipline.
