EEL 342 – Elementary Methods of Social Studies (3)<br />

Prerequisite: EDU 321. Strategies and methods for teaching social studies in<br />

the elementary school. 20-hour practicum required.<br />

EEL 362 – Elementary Methods of Mathematics (3)<br />

Prerequisite: EDU 321. Techniques of diagnosing and analyzing mathematical<br />

problems and teaching mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction,<br />

multiplication, and division. 20-hour practicum required.<br />

EEL 363 – Methods of Teaching Art (3)<br />

Prerequisite: EDU 321. (Restricted to Art Education majors only). Strategies<br />

and methods for teaching art in elementary school and high school. 30-hour<br />

practicum required. Offered spring semester.<br />

EEL 364 – Elementary Methods in the Sciences (3)<br />

Prerequisite: EDU 321. An interdisciplinary approach to teaching natural<br />

science, in the elementary grades. 20-hour practicum required.<br />

EEL 365 – Elementary Methods in the Arts (3)<br />

Prerequisite: EDU 321. An interdisciplinary approach to teaching music,<br />

art, dance/movement, and creative drama in the elementary grades. 20-hour<br />

practicum required.<br />

EEL 431WI – Elementary Methods of Language Arts (3)<br />

Prerequisites: EDU 321, EEL 301, EEL 302. The purpose of this course is to<br />

gain an understanding of reading and writing processes and the principles of an<br />

effective language arts program. 20-hour practicum required.<br />

EEL 455 – Diagnostic Reading (3)<br />

Prerequisites: EDU 321 and EEL 301. The course examines various kinds<br />

methods of treatment. Required for students majoring in Elementary Education,<br />

Exceptional Student Education, and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.<br />

20-hour practicum required.<br />

ESL 315 – Cross Cultural Communications (3)<br />

This course examines cultural diversity in the sociopolitical, cultural, and<br />

linguistic contexts of teaching, learning, and living in a global society to increase<br />

intercultural competence for interpersonal communication with K-12 English<br />

Language Learners (ELL) and their families. <br />
