The student will be advised that he/she may accept the penalty or may<br />

request a hearing. In the event the student denies the allegation or objects to the<br />

severity of the penalty, the student may request a hearing before the Academic<br />

Disciplinary Committee from the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.<br />

The case will be referred to the Academic Disciplinary Committee. The faculty<br />

or staff member reporting the incident of academic dishonesty will prepare all<br />

material dealing with the case such as evidence, witnesses, etc. The Associate<br />

Dean of Academic Affairs will prepare and issue the charges and will inform the<br />

student of the time and date of the hearing. Should the student desire to appeal<br />

<br />

to the Dean of Academic Affairs within three days.<br />

Incivility in the Classroom<br />

<strong>Flagler</strong> <strong>College</strong> students are expected to demonstrate civility in their classroom<br />

<br />

should note that this policy extends to electronic communications and person-to-<br />

In the case of a suspected case of incivility in the classroom, the faculty member<br />

may contact the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Associate Dean of Academic<br />

of the situation, a meeting will be scheduled with the faculty member and the<br />

Dean of Academic Affairs, the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, or the Dean<br />

of Student Services. After hearing the faculty member, a meeting will be held<br />

with the student or students involved. Periodically, additional individuals who<br />

witnessed the incident may be called to meet with the Dean of Academic Affairs,<br />

the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, or the Dean of Student Services.<br />

At this point, a determination will be made as to whether there was a case of<br />

incivility. In the case where incivility has occurred, an appropriate disciplinary<br />

action will be reached and offered to the student as the result of an Administrative<br />

Disposition. The student has the right to accept the results of the disposition or<br />

to have a hearing before the <strong>College</strong> Disciplinary Committee.<br />

Should the student select to proceed with a <strong>College</strong> Disciplinary Committee<br />

hearing, the procedures will follow those stated in the Student Handbook.<br />

The evaluative process at <strong>Flagler</strong> <strong>College</strong> places emphasis on all aspects of<br />

the student’s academic performance. Class attendance, participation, reports,<br />
