BUS 309 – Operations Management (3)<br />

Prerequisite: Junior standing. An overview of the broad responsibilities<br />

of the operations manager and the interrelationships with marketing and<br />

BUS 310 – Principles of Marketing (3)<br />

Prerequisite: Junior standing. A survey of the principles, terminology, and<br />

functions of marketing, emphasizing product, price, place, and promotion. The course<br />

will provide an understanding of the role of marketing in the business environment.<br />

BUS 312 – Retailing Operations (3)<br />

Prerequisites: BUS 307 and BUS 310. This course involves an analysis of the<br />

management functions as applied to the retail establishment; the role of the retailer in<br />

the marketing program; and the relationship between the retailer and the end consumer.<br />

BUS 315 – Selling Principles and Methods (3)<br />

Prerequisite: BUS 310. Examination of principles and methods of selling with<br />

emphasis on the development of effective salesperson/customer relationships<br />

and presentations.<br />

BUS 318 – Principles of Advertising (3)<br />

Prerequisites: BUS 310 for Business Administration and Accounting majors/<br />

minors, and BUS 101 or ART 218 or COM 210 for all other students. This is an<br />

intermediate-level advertising class addressing the structure of the advertising<br />

industry including agency, marketing, and public relations uses. The course<br />

covers advertising rationales, concepts, ethics, research methods, strategies,<br />

planning, and the media mix including buying and placement considerations.<br />

This course is cross-listed as COM 318.<br />

BUS 319 – Entrepreneurship in the Family Business (3)<br />

Prerequisites: ECO 201, 202, ACC 211, BUS 241, 307, 310. This course is<br />

focused on the strategy, environment, and decision-making processes most<br />

important for creating, owning, and successfully operating a family business.<br />

Particular attention is given to the competitive strengths and weaknesses of a<br />

BUS 322 – Social Entrepreneurship (3)<br />

Prerequisites: ECO 201, 202, ACC 211, BUS 241, 307, 310. This course<br />

introduces students to the topic of social entrepreneurship which includes<br />

learning the rich variety of competencies that enable entrepreneurs to craft<br />
