ART 401 – Creativity: The Art of Possibilities (3)<br />

Prerequisite: Junior standing or permission of instructor. This course is<br />

an exploration into the nature of creativity and human expression as it relates<br />

to problem solving in our daily lives and in the creation of works of art. This<br />

course will refer to issues such as aesthetics, philosophy, psychology, biology,<br />

and religion to explore this subject.<br />

ART 402 – Painting II (4)<br />

An advanced studio<br />

course in which both formal and conceptual painting issues are explored.<br />

Emphasis is given to the development of an individual, contemporary approach<br />

to painting.<br />

ART 405 – Sculpture II (4)<br />

An advanced<br />

course in sculpture, using a variety of media and techniques. Students will be<br />

encouraged to develop a personal direction in their work. A lab fee is required<br />

for this course.<br />

ART 408 – Figure Drawing II (4)<br />

ART 409 – Art Study Abroad (1-4)<br />

Prerequisite: Departmental approval. An advanced program of study in art<br />

ART 410 – Study Away New York (1-3)<br />

A 4-day intensive study away program designed to broaden students’<br />

knowledge of historical and contemporary art practice. Completed through<br />

visiting major museums, prominent gallery districts, and meeting professionals<br />

working in the art world. Students will be evaluated on their attendance, their<br />

preparation through reading prior to the trip and on their research into artists<br />

and completion of written requirements following the trip. This one credit<br />

ART 426 – Illustration II (4)<br />

This course will introduce experienced students to<br />

advance problems associated with contemporary professional illustration.<br />

ART 428 – Historic Preservation (3)<br />

Utilizing the resources of St. Augustine, the course will address the following
