Development of <strong>Project</strong>ed Intensity-Duration-Frequency Curves<br />

2.1 Historical IDF curves<br />

The historical IDF curve <strong>and</strong> underlying precipitation data were obtained from<br />

Environment Canada. Figure 2-2, Figure 2-3 <strong>and</strong> Figure 2-4 show the historical IDF<br />

curves for each of the three stations. Table 2-1, Table 2-3 <strong>and</strong> Table 2-5 show the<br />

historic IDF data in tabular form. Table 2-6 shows the values for the updated version of<br />

the historical IDF for the St. John’s A station; this table was developed by combining<br />

data from the St. John’s A station with data from a nearby station at Windsor Lake<br />

operated by the City of St. John’s (data provided by WRMD). This station is referred to<br />

as the St. John’s Composite record. Table 2-2, Table 2-4 <strong>and</strong> Table 2-7 show the<br />

underlying annual maximum precipitation values for the three Environment Canada<br />

stations; data for the St. John’s Composite record were not available.<br />
