Young women had ahigher HIV prevalence than young men, ranging from 3.0% in women 15 years old to 12.0% inwomen 24 years old. Prevalence among men aged 15‐24 years ranged from 0.4% to 2.6%. Amongyoung women, prevalence rose with increasing age and by 24 years of age, women were 5.2 timesmore likely to be infected than men of the same age (12.0% and 2.3%, respectively). This trend wasnot observed among young men.2.5 HIV PREVALENCE AMONG OLDER ADULTS (50-64 YEARS OLD)Previous population surveys have targeted respondents of reproductive age, aged 15‐49 years.The 2007 KAIS included women and men aged 50‐64 years to assess the need for HIV prevention,care and treatment in older adults. Inboth rural and urban areas, women had a significantly higher prevalence of HIV than men.
