In comparison to HIV‐infected men, HIV‐infected women weresignificantly less likely to be in a married or cohabiting relationship (55.5% in women vs. 77.7% in men) and significantly more likely to be separated, divorced or widowed (31.8% in women vs.9.4% in men) (data not shown).A significantly higher percentage of HIV‐infected widowed women (32.9%) were aware of their HIVinfectioncompared to HIV‐infected women who were never married or cohabiting (12.5%), currentlymonogamous (13.9%), currently polygamous (14.1%), or separated or divorced (14.9%).<strong>KAIS</strong> <strong>2007</strong> 84
