Examples: Mixture Modeling With Cross-Sectional Datau1u2cu3fu4In this example, the LCA with partial conditional independence shownin the picture above is estimated. A similar model is described in Qu,Tan, and Kutner (1996).By specifying ALGORITHM=INTEGRATION, a maximum likelihoodestimator with robust standard errors using a numerical integrationalgorithm will be used. Note that numerical integration becomesincreasingly more computationally demanding as the number of factorsand the sample size increase. In this example, one dimension ofintegration is used with 15 integration points. The ESTIMATOR optioncan be used to select a different estimator. In the example above, thelack of conditional independence between the latent class indicators u2and u3 in class 1 is captured by u2 and u3 being influenced by thecontinuous latent variable f in class 1. The conditional independenceassumption for u2 and u3 is not violated for class 2. This is specified byfixing the factor loadings to zero in the overall model. The amount ofdeviation from conditional independence between u2 and u3 in class 1 iscaptured by the u3 factor loading for the continuous latent variable f. Anexplanation of the other commands can be found in Example 7.1.169
