CHAPTER 16OPTIONS RELATED TO NUMERICALINTEGRATIONINTEGRATIONThe INTEGRATION option is used to specify the type of numericalintegration and the number of integration points to be used in thecomputation when ALGORITHM=INTEGRATION is used. TheINTEGRATION option has three settings: STANDARD,GAUSSHERMITE, and MONTECARLO. The default is STANDARD.STANDARD uses rectangular (trapezoid) numerical integration. Thedefault for TYPE=EFA and TYPE=TWOLEVEL with weighted leastsquares estimation is 7 integration points per dimension. For all otheranalyses, the default is 15 integration points per dimension.GAUSSHERMITE uses Gauss-Hermite integration with a default of 15integration point per dimension. MONTECARLO uses randomlygenerated integration points. The default number of integration pointsvaries depending on the analysis type. In most cases, it is 500.Following is an example of how the INTEGRATION option is used tochange the number of integration points for the default setting ofSTANDARD.INTEGRATION = 10;where 10 is the number of integration points per dimension to be used inthe computation. An alternative specification is:INTEGRATION = STANDARD (10);To select the MONTECARLO setting, specify:INTEGRATION = MONTECARLO;The default number of integration points varies depending on theanalysis type. In most cases, 500 integration points are used. Followingis an example of how to specify a specific number of Monte Carlointegration points:INTEGRATION = MONTECARLO (1000);544
