TITLE, DATA, VARIABLE, And DEFINE CommandsA data set with all continuous dependent variables in the form of acorrelation matrix, standard deviations, and means is specified as:TYPE IS CORRELATION MEANS STDEVIATIONS;The program creates a covariance matrix using the correlations andstandard deviations and then analyzes the means and covariance matrix. The external ASCII file for the above example contains the means, standard deviations, and correlations in free format. Each type of datamust begin on a separate record even if the data fits on less than onerecord. The means come first; the standard deviations begin on therecord following the last mean; and the entries of the lower triangularcorrelation matrix begin on the record following the last standarddeviation. The data set appears as follows:.4 .6 .3 .5 .5.2 .5 .4 .5 .61.0.86 1.0.56 .76 1.0.78 .34 .48 1.0.65 .87 .32 .56 1.0or alternatively:.4 .6 .3 .5 .5.2 .5 .4 .5 .61.0 .86 1.0 .56 .76 1.0 .78 .34 .48 1.0 .65 .87 .32 .56 1.0MONTECARLOThe MONTECARLO setting of the TYPE option is used when the datasets being analyzed have been generated and saved using either theREPSAVE option of the MONTECARLO command or by anothercomputer program. The file named using the FILE option of the DATAcommand contains a list of the names of the data sets to be analyzed andsummarized as in a Monte Carlo study. This ASCII file is createdautomatically when the data sets are generated and saved in a prioranalysis using the REPSAVE option of the MONTECARLO command. This file must be created by the user when the data sets are generated457
