CHAPTER 18using the POPULATION and/or COVERAGE options of theMONTECARLO command. The SVALUES option is an alternative tothe ESTIMATES option. The SVALUES option creates inputstatements that contain parameter estimates from the analysis as startingvalues.Following is an example of how to specify the ESTIMATES option:ESTIMATES ARE estimate.dat;where estimate.dat is the name of the file in which the parameterestimates will be saved. If the working directory contains a file of thesame name, it will be overwritten. The data are saved using free formatdelimited by a space.DIFFTESTThe DIFFTEST option is used in conjunction with the MLMV andWLSMV estimators to specify the name of the ASCII file in which thederivatives from an H1 model will be saved. These derivatives are usedin the subsequent estimation of an H0 model to compute a chi-squaredifference test using the DIFFTEST option of the ANALYSIScommand. The H1 model is the less restrictive model. The H0 model isthe more restrictive model nested within H1. Following is an example ofhow to specify the DIFFTEST option:DIFFTEST IS deriv.dat;where deriv.dat is the name of the file in which the derivatives from theH1 model will be saved. If the working directory contains a file of thesame name, it will be overwritten. The data are saved using free formatdelimited by a space.TECH3The TECH3 option is used to specify the name of the ASCII file inwhich the covariance matrix of parameter estimates will be saved.Following is an example of how to specify the TECH3 option:TECH3 IS tech3.dat;670
