CHAPTER 16LOGIT REGRESSION VERSUS LOGLINEARPARAMETERIZATIONThere are two model parameterizations available whenTYPE=MIXTURE is used and more than one categorical latent variableis used in the analysis. The first parameterization is referred to asLOGIT. This is the default parameterization. In the LOGITparameterization, logistic regressions are estimated for categorical latentvariables. In the LOGIT parameterization, the ON and WITH options ofthe MODEL command can be used to specify the relationships betweenthe categorical latent variables. The second parameterization is referredto as LOGLINEAR. In the LOGLINEAR parameterization, loglinearmodels are estimated for categorical latent variables allowing two- andthree-way interactions. In the LOGLINEAR parameterization, only theWITH option of the MODEL command can be used to specify therelationships between the categorical latent variables.LINKThe LINK option is used with maximum likelihood estimation to select alogit or probit link for models with categorical outcomes. The default isa logit link. Following is an example of how to request a probit link:LINK = PROBIT:ROTATIONThe ROTATION option is used with TYPE=EFA to specify the type ofrotation of the factor loading matrix to be used in exploratory factoranalysis. The default is the GEOMIN oblique rotation (Yates, 1987;Browne, 2001). The algorithms used in the rotations are described inJennrich and Sampson (1966), Browne (2001), Bernaards and Jennrich(2005), and Jennrich (2007). For consistency, the names of the rotationsused in the CEFA program (Browne, Cudeck, Tateneni, & Mels, 2004)are used for rotations that are included in both the CEFA and Mplusprograms.Standard errors are available as the default for all rotations exceptPROMAX and VARIMAX. THE NOSERROR options of the OUTPUTcommand can be used to request that standard errors not be computed.536
