CHAPTER 153. The value zero is assigned to all time points before the value of one.Following are the rules for creating the set of binary variables for theDDROPOUT setting:1. The value one is assigned to the time point after the last time pointan individual is observed.2. The value zero is assigned to all other time points.DESCRIPTIVEThe DESCRIPTIVE option is used in conjunction with TYPE=BASICof the ANALYSIS command and the SDROPOUT and DDROPOUTsettings of the TYPE option to specify the sets of variables for whichadditional descriptive statistics are computed. For each variable, themean and standard deviation are computed using all observationswithout missing on the variable. Means and standard deviations areprovided for the following sets of observations whose definitions arebased on missing data patterns:Dropouts after each time point – Individuals who drop out before thenext time point and do not return to the studyNon-dropouts after each time point – Individuals who do not drop outbefore the next time pointTotal Dropouts – Individuals who are missing at the last time pointDropouts no intermittent missing – Individuals who do not return tothe study once they have dropped outDropouts intermittent missing – Individuals who drop out and returnto the studyTotal Non-dropouts – Individuals who are present at the last time pointNon-dropouts complete data – Individuals with complete dataNon-dropouts intermittent missing – Individuals who have missingdata but are present at the last time pointTotal sampleThe first set of variables given in the DESCRIPTIVE statement is theoutcome variable. This set of variables defines the number of timepoints in the model. If the other sets of variables do not have the samenumber of time points, the asterisk (*) is used as a placeholder. Sets ofvariables are separated by the | symbol. Following is an example of howto specify the DESCRIPTIVE option:474
