Howeverthis is just a guideline for data migration effort and the SI will be required to devise his owndetailed methodology and get it approved by State Nodal Officer.1. AnalysisAnalysis of the legacy data and its creation, conversion, migration and transfer to theproposed new data base schema will be started during the scoping phase and shall take aparallel path during the design and development phase of the application. It will cover thefollowing steps:a) Analyze the existing procedures, policies, formats of data in lieu of the newproposed system to understand the amount of the data and the applicabilityin CCTNSb) Write a specification to create, transfer and migrate the data setc) Document all exceptions, complex scenarios of the datad) This phase will generate the specification for Data Take–On routines2. TransformationTransformation phase can be commenced after integration testing phase. It will entail thefollowing steps:a) Identify the fields, columns to be added/deleted from the existing systemb) Identify the default values to be populated for all ‗not null‘ columnsc) Develop routines to create (Entry if any by data entry operators), migrate,convert the data from hard copies, old database (if any), computer records tothe new databased) Develop test programs to check the migrated data from old database to thenew databasee) Test the migration programs using the snapshot of the production dataAssam Police Page 149
