Becausethe program’s values were in line with their own values, these farmers werecommitted <strong>to</strong> making the program work. And even though the farm <strong>to</strong> schoolmarketing was not yet contributing much <strong>to</strong> their business profits, it appears <strong>to</strong>be contributing indirectly through the synergy it creates among farmers, schoolpersonnel, parents, children and other community members. 89Th e CSA-CA program generated $33,513 in revenues for the participating farmduring the 2002-03 pilot year. The successful integration of foods from local farmsin the school cafeterias is attributed <strong>to</strong> relationship development between farmersand the Burling<strong>to</strong>n school district, ability <strong>to</strong> use high school cafeterias <strong>to</strong>lightly process raw foods, and availability and willingness of the school administration<strong>to</strong> incorporate local foods.
