2011 – 2012 PROGRAMS AND DEGREESINFORMATIONTECHNOLOGYBachelor of Science inInformation TechnologyPrograms Offered• Bachelor of Science in Information TechnologyThis BSIT program prepares students for careers in InformationTechnology such as Computer Systems Integrator, ComputerSystems Manager, Information Technology Designer, InformationTechnology Support, Database Systems Manager, DatabaseSystems Designer, Data Communications Analyst, NetworkManager, Network Designer, Web Technology Manager andWeb Technology Support.In addition to serving CSU Channel Islands (CI) freshmen, theprogram provides an avenue of advancement for studentswith associate’s degrees in a technology discipline such asnetworking gained at a two-year institution (e.g.: MoorparkCollege’s Associate in Science Degree in Computer NetworkSystems Engineering).The coursework will provide a foundation in mathematics,programming, networking, databases, web systems, computerarchitecture and information systems. The BSIT covers theinterdisciplinary ground between a BS in Computer Scienceand a BS in Management Information Systems, emphasizingthe fastest growing segments of both: web systems, databases,and networks. This interdisciplinary program draws from bothComputer Science and Management Information Systems:mathematics, science, and computer programming fromComputer Science, and business organization and projectmanagement from Management Information Systems. Fromthere it adds depth in Web Programming and Technology,Database Theory and Design, and Data Communicationsand Networking, while allowing for further depth in these orrelated areas such as e-Commerce, Computer Security, andMultimedia.FacultyWilliam J.
