We accomplish this by providing qualitypersonalized guidance and support to our faculty and staffin benefits administration, work/life balance, compensationand classification, professional training and development,environmental health and safety, risk management, diversityand equity, and amicable resolution of employment and labordisputes through collaboration, mutual respect and dignity. Inaddition, a Student Assistant classification is also availableand is intended to provide a vehicle for students to work parttime while they are in school to enable them to gain valuableexperience related to their educational goals and to assist themwith financial support while they are enrolled at CI.SAFE on CampusSAFE (Students, Administrators and Faculty forEquality) on Campus is a program sponsoredby the Center for Multicultural Engagement.Mission. The SAFE on Campus program seeks to reducehomophobia and heterosexism at CI. Through education,advocacy, and promoting awareness, the program contributesto building a campus climate that is safe and accepting of allmembers of the University community.Purpose. SAFE on Campus provides an avenue through whichall members of the campus community can actively show theirsupport of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. SAFEon Campus members identify themselves by displaying the SAFEon Campus sign at their office. Members attend an orientationsession, after which they receive the SAFE on Campus logo. Bydisplaying the logo, members signal to students and employeesthat they can be “out” or reveal their sexual orientation orgender identity. In addition, members can serve as a valuablesource to help locate resources on campus, or help reportharassment or discrimination.Definition of an Ally. Its administrative offices are located inPlacer Hall, adjacent to parking lot A1. CI Police Officers arecommissioned peace officers with full enforcement authority whoare also certified as emergency medical technicians (EMT-1).Police Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a weekand are the first responders to all campus emergencies.Important Telephone NumbersFor emergencies dial – 911For non-emergencies dial – 805-437-8444Annual Security ReportThe Police Department publishes an Annual Security Reportin compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of CampusSecurity Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The AnnualSecurity Report includes statistics for the three previous calendaryears concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, incertain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlledby the University; and on public property within, or immediatelyadjacent to, and accessible from the campus. The reportalso contains institutional policies and procedures concerningcampus safety and security to include sexual assault reporting,alcohol, drug and weapons violations, as well as other matters.The report may be accessed on the Web at http://www.csuci.edu/police/Annual_Security_Report.htm.Crime ReportingThe CI Police Department is officially designated to receivecrime reports. Call the Police Department immediately to reportany crime that occurs on campus. Timely crime alerts areprepared and distributed campus-wide via a comprehensivecommunication system when there is a continuing threat tothe safety of students or employees. The Police Departmentmaintains a daily activity log, and crime reports may beobtained, subject to restrictions allowable under California’sPublic Records Act, at the Police & Parking Services CustomerService Counter in Placer Hall.Crime PreventionCrime prevention literature is available at the CI Police &Parking Services Customer Service and via the department’sWeb page (www.csuci.edu/campserv/police/index.htm).
