Career PlacementThe office of Institutional Research may furnish, upon request,information about the employment of students who graduate fromprograms or courses of study preparing students for a particularcareer field. Any such data provided must be in a form that doesnot allow for the identification of any individual student. Thisinformation includes data concerning the average starting salaryand the percentage of previously enrolled students who obtainedemployment. The information may include data collected fromeither graduates of the campus or graduates of all campuses inthe California State University system.Communication with StudentsAccountabilityProvost & Vice President for Academic Affairs and the VicePresident for Student Affairs.ApplicabilityAll applicants, matriculated students, faculty and staff at CI.Definition(s)Mail -– shall be defined as letters and parcels conveyed by theUnited States Postal Service.**Other reputable carriers such as Federal Express and UPSmay be utilized if deemed necessary.Email -– shall be defined as the system whereby letters,messages and other data are transmitted from one computing orelectronic communication device to another through an electroniccommunication network.Global Student Emails -– shall be defined as communicationsent to all students through dolphin email.Text1. Electronic Communicationa. All applicants are required to include an emailaddress on their <strong>CSU</strong> online application for admission.The Admissions and Recruitment office shall utilize statedemail address to disseminate communication related toenrollment. It is the responsibility of the student to ensurethat communication is received and read.b. Communication regarding admission status will be sentto applicants through stated email address as well astheir respective Dolphin VIP page.c. All students shall receive an email account from theUniversity. Official student email addresses end in @myci.csuci.edu.d. Administration shall utilize the “Dolphin Email” systemas the official means of communication to CI students. Itis the student’s responsibility to ensure thatcommunication is received and read.e. Students may redirect their University email addressto another account. However, the University will not beresponsible for the handling of email by outside vendorsor departmental servers. Instructions for redirecting shallbe available on the CI “Dolphin Email” web site.f. Faculty shall determine how electronic forms ofcommunication (e.g. email) will be used in theirrespective classes and will specify requirements to theirstudents.g. All electronic communication shall meet federal andstate accessibility requirements.h. All email sent to students shall include the name, title,email address and telephone number of the person oroffice sending the email so that the student may verifythe integrity of the email.i. It is a violation of University policy to use University mailor a University email address to impersonate a Universityoffice, administrator, faculty, staff member, or student.j. Students who are suspended or expelled may havetheir “Dolphin Email” account closed. The account shallonly be re-opened with approval from the Dean ofStudents or designee.k. Complaints involving harassing email shall beinvestigated by the Dean of Students or designee.l. Students who voluntarily withdraw from the Universityand have not completed their program degree or havenot enrolled for more than one academic year, will havetheir email account closed at that time.m. Only designated University offices are eligible to sendglobal student emails.n. Student email addresses shall not be provided forcommercial purposes, personal gain or spamming.o. Applicants to the University should inform the Admissionsand Recruitment office if there is a change in emailaddress by submitting a letter with their name, date ofbirth, contact number requesting the University to utilizean alternate email address for communication.2. Maila. Students shall provide the University with a currentmailing address.b. Students shall maintain their mailing address byupdating it in MyCI.(SA.07.008)Death of a StudentThe complete policy text can be found on the CI website athttp://policy.csuci.edu/SA/01/SA.01.001.htm.(SA.01.001)Disposition of Fees: CampusEmergency; Interim SuspensionTitle 5, California Code of Regulations, § 41302During periods of campus emergency, as determined by thePresident of the individual campus, the President may, afterconsultation with the Chancellor, place into immediate effect anyemergency regulations, procedures, and other measures deemednecessary or appropriate to meet the emergency, safeguardpersons and property, and maintain educational activities.The President of the campus may place on probation, suspend,or expel a student for one or more of the causes enumerated inSection 41301. No fees or tuition paid by or for such studentfor the semester, quarter, or summer session in which he or sheis suspended or expelled shall be refunded. If the student isreadmitted before the close of the semester, quarter, or summersession in which he or she is suspended, no additional tuitionor fees shall be required of the student on account of thesuspension.The President may immediately impose an interim suspension inall cases in which there is reasonable cause to believe that suchan immediate suspension is required in order to protect lives orproperty and to insure the maintenance of order. A student soplaced on interim suspension shall be given prompt notice ofcharges and the opportunity for a hearing within 10 days ofthe imposition of interim suspension.
