The officecoordinates academic planning with enrollment management,assessment, and physical space planning, and coordinatesrelations with the Chancellor’s Office on academic plans andprogram reviews.With respect to academic programs, the office assists AcademicSenate committees in their work on course and programdevelopment and modification. Academic advising is a continuousprocess that supports students throughout their academic journeyat the University. Students need to be familiar with the University catalog policiesand major and degree policies. To ensure academic successand to remain on course, students are encouraged to maintainregular contact with academic advisors.Academic advisors in the Advising Center provide guidancewith general education and graduation requirements, monitoringof the student’s degree progress, undeclared major advising,clarification of academic probation policies, and otherinstitutional policies and procedures. In addition to takingadvantage of the center’s professional academic advisors,students can develop a mentoring relationship with a facultyadvisor upon declaration of a major. Faculty advisors assiststudents with clarification of major requirements and assiststudents with internship and career opportunities.Students may call or stop by the Advising Center check-incounter to schedule an appointment with one of our professionalacademic advisors. Major faculty advisors are available on awalk-in basis or by appointment. For faculty advisor availabilityand office locations, please check the Advising Centerlobby display case. Advisors are busiest during registrationperiods and the first few weeks of the semester. Students areencouraged to schedule advising sessions during non-peaktimes.
