In additionto learning to perform the movements,students will learn about Daoistphilosophy, and history of Chinese martialarts. Traditional Chinese health principleswill also be covered. Students develop an increasedunderstanding of the ocean and complexdynamics that underlie the sport of surfing.The interrelationship between physicalactivity and personal aesthetics isexplored through weekly surfing activities.GenEd: EPHED 110 WELLNESS (2)Two hours lecture per weekExamines the interrelationship of the mindand body as it relates to the concept ofwellness. Covers physical fitness, sportselection, and differing types of exercise.This is not an activity/performance course.GenEd: EPHED 208 INTRODUCTION TOKINESIOLOGY (3)Three hours lecture per weekExamines the field of human movement,introduces biomechanics, anatomy,exercise physiology , and motorlearning. Basic anatomy, function of themusculoskeletal system, laws of motion,principles of force, equilibrium concepts,and laws governing projectiles will beintroduced and applied to various sportsactivities. The student will develop theability to analyze skill movements inspecific sport activities.
