Studentsinterested in financial aid must complete a Free Application forFederal Student Aid (FAFSA), which can be obtained onlineat www.fafsa.ed.gov. A variety of financial aid resources areavailable to students, including grants, loans, federal work study,and scholarships. After students have completed and submittedthe FAFSA, they may be considered for the following:GrantsFederal or state funds that do not have to be repaid:• Federal Pell Grants are awarded to eligible students withfinancial need who have not already earned a bachelor’sdegree or are working toward a teaching credential.• Cal Grants are awarded to California residents withfinancial need and who meet the California Student AidCommission scholastic requirements.• State University Grants are awarded to California residents.Students are considered for the State University Grant basedon their need and the availability of funds.LoansFederal Stafford Loans include the subsidized and unsubsidizedloan programs which provide low interest, long-term loansto eligible students. Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans areavailable to students based on financial need. Interest is paidby the federal government (subsidized) while students areenrolled at least half-time and during their six-month graceperiod after leaving school. Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loansare available to all students without regard to income. Interestis paid by the student or added to the loan amount that will berepaid later.Federal Work StudyThe Federal Work Study (FWS) program is a financial aidprogram funded by the federal government and is intended toprovide part-time employment opportunities for eligible studentswho need additional financial resources to pursue a collegeeducation. The offer of work study does not guarantee that ajob will be available that matches the student’s class schedule ordesired field. In some cases, if a student is unable to find work,student loans can be increased if the student has not alreadyborrowed the maximum for the year.ScholarshipsThe University, in participation with the community, has anendowment, as well as annual donations, that providescholarships based on academic excellence, financial needand community service. This annual scholarship opportunitytakes place each spring and applications are open to both newand continuing students. Students may complete a scholarshipapplication, which is found on the Financial Aid website.Endowed Scholarships for 2011-2012President’s Scholars ProgramEstablished by a generous gift from the Pierre Claeyssensfamily, this program provides scholarships to entering freshmanstudents who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.Applicants must be residents of California and have a 3.75high school GPA and a minimum score of 1200 on the SATexam or 26 on the ACT exam. This scholarship is renewable forup to four years.AAUW Camarillo Chapter ReEntry/TransferScholarshipAwarded to upper division transfer students that are singleparents. Minimum GPA of 3.0 required. Financial need isconsidered.Airborne Technologies Annual ScholarshipAwarded to students from Ventura County, and preferably fromOxnard, who are studying business. A 3.0 minimum GPA isrequired and financial need may be considered.Art Fund ScholarshipAwarded to art students with a Senior standing. Students musthave a minimum GPA of 3.25 and proof of financial need.Applicants will need to provide a portfolio or DVD and an artiststatement explaining their work.Barbara Brooks ScholarshipAwarded to an art student major with a minimum GPA of 2.5.Bernard and Barbara BobitchScholarships in the Health SciencesAwarded to students in biology, chemistry or related fieldsthat enable them to prepare for careers in a health profession.Students must be legal citizens of the U.S. with a minimumGPA of 3.0 from high school or a community college. Thescholarship may be used for purposes other than tuition fees,such as books, computers, childcare or living expenses.Bostwick Endowed ScholarshipAwarded to students with a 3.0 minimum GPA, demonstratedleadership and community service. Financial need may beconsidered.2011 – 2012Financial AidBusiness & Technology Partnership ScholarshipAwarded to students who are business, science, or math majorswith a minimum 3.0 GPA.
