This type of wastewater usually contains suspended solids of 5000 mg/L with a pH value about 12. The wastewater will be treated onsite by sedimentation and neutralization in a treatment tank. The treated clean water will be reused. Site will be covered with soil and planted with shrubs and grasses. Air Quality Generation of dust Increased dust levels from construction activities will be the major impact on air quality. The dust emission sources include construction machinery, rock blasting, foundation excavation, cement mixing and material transportation. The dust control measures implemented on a case-by-case basis, such as siting the storage and preparation of construction material nearby and in a downstream area so that the transportation and impact can be minimized. Dust from construction traffic will be mitigated by covered transport truck, road compaction, and water spraying. 6. Noise

Residents in a few villages nearby construction sites may affected by the noise during construction. Mitigation measures include using low noise machinery and no construction activities are allowed within 200 m of residential area during night. Mitigation measures for noise impact on construction workers will include standard occupational health and safety practices. XEPB EMU All construction sites Construction IAs Contractors 7. Solid Waste and Hazardous Materials Solid waste disposal Domestic waste and construction waste will be disposed in approved disposal sites. Hazardous waste will be collected in designated areas with anti-leakage measures and then will be transferred to the garbage disposal areas of Zhouzhi county that has hygienic and safety measures. Operation Phase Wastewater disposal It is estimated about 201, 305, and 670 tones of wastewater will be generated daily in SQBG, SARC and HSDCC, respectively. Three wastewater treatment plants will be built in the three tourism attractions to treat the wastewater collected by the sewer system within their territory. Septic tanks and land treatment will be used to treat the wastewater from the areas where sewer system is not available. Bio-toilets will be used in the tour sites. Operation IAs/EMUs XEPB EMU Park lot, tour routes and accommodation area Noise impact Noise will be generated from parking lots, internal shuttle buses, cable-cars and occasionally from the helicopter. Mitigation measures will include: (1) using low noise, low emission tour buses (2) taking noise reduction measures, where required, to reduce the noise level to meet the national standards. Operation IAs/EMUs XEPB EMU Park lot, tour routes and accommodation area Solid waste disposal Domestic waste will be generated at 1.17 t/d, 2.9 t/d and 7 t/d in SQBG, SARC and HSDCC, respectively. Domestic waste will be collected separately and stored in a depot in Dianzhen, and it will be transferred to and treated (including recycle, reuse) in a designated site by the municipal sanitation authority. The preventative measures include warning signs, conducting environmental awareness educational programs (videos, brochures, tour guiding) at the main entrance, as well as building necessary protective fences.
