ANNEX 1PREPARING THE SOCIALREPRESENTATION QUESTIONNAIRE ONDESIGN DRUGS (mainly ecstasy)The questionnaire on social representations we are going to use in this researchcontains around 20 phrases or questions -the social representations-. This questionsmust be provided by the users, professionals, media and society at large. In order tochoose which phrases or ideas we will use, we have two main sources:1) media news, underground literature, official pamphlets, scientific papers,.., ofevery country participating in the research.2) 4 interviews (two with young people who have some experience with ecstasy -atleast 10 times- and two with young people not using design drugs or other illegaldrugs) in every country.We expect that every one of the 5 participating nations in the research will help inpreparing the questionnaire providing the necessary information. Every country will getall this information and will send it as soon as possible to Palma de Mallorca. We willlike to present a first questionnaire in Lyon (30 November).GUIDELINES FOR GATHERING THE MATERIAL ON MEDIA NEWS,UNDERGROUND LITERATURE, PAMPHLETS, ETC.Every country will engage in gathering as much material of this sort as they can. Itmust not be very old, but we do not give any indications how to gather this information.Media articles, scientific papers, studies, prevention campaigns messages, etc. can beincluded. A selection of the material and/or the most frequent messages or ideas usedwill be sent to Palma de Mallorca as soon as possible.This material and further information that will be gathered during the time thatresearch is on, will serve to complement the study.GUIDELINES FOR THE INTERVIEWFour interviews are needed (two with ecstasy users and two with non users). Theperson interviewed will know the purpose of the interview, that is, to know hisinformation, ideas, opinions and experiences on the subject of ecstasy. He must beassured that this information will be totally confidential.231
