Thrill <strong>and</strong> Adventure Seek<strong>in</strong>g (TAS): it expresses the desire <strong>of</strong> gett<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong>activities that imply danger or speed <strong>and</strong> that provide unusual sensations.2. Experience Seek<strong>in</strong>g (ES): it implies the search <strong>of</strong> activity through unconventionalor non conformist life styles. It shows a need for different <strong>in</strong>ternal experiencesthat can be reached with trips, drugs, music, art <strong>and</strong> a not conventional style <strong>of</strong>life. There is also some resistance to the authority.3. Dis<strong>in</strong>hibition (DIS): it is a fluctuat<strong>in</strong>g factor, oscillatory, it <strong>in</strong>cludes items thatexpress hedonism, sexual promiscuity, etc.4. Boredom Susceptibility (BS) implies a displeasure for repeated experiences <strong>of</strong>any class.The Social Deviation Scale is a scale <strong>of</strong> 10 items adapted from the FBI Uniform <strong>and</strong>Crime Report used for <strong>in</strong>vestigation on drug users by the Centre on Drug <strong>and</strong> AlcoholResearch <strong>of</strong> the University <strong>of</strong> Kentucky. This scale has not been validated <strong>in</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>,<strong>and</strong> has been scarcely used <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>vestigation.• Part IV:The Social Representations Scale is a questionnaire that must be elaboratedspecifically for each study, which implies a prelim<strong>in</strong>ary research gather<strong>in</strong>g all thoseconvictions, ideas, attitudes, etc…connected with this drug <strong>and</strong> that we f<strong>in</strong>d <strong>in</strong> the<strong>social</strong> context <strong>of</strong> the five <strong>Europe</strong>an cities that participate <strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>vestigation. This need<strong>of</strong> previous <strong>in</strong>formation to the elaboration <strong>of</strong> this questionnaire was covered dur<strong>in</strong>g theexploratory phase. As soon as all this elements were collected, with the <strong>in</strong>formationprovided by the <strong>in</strong>dividuals <strong>in</strong>terviewed <strong>and</strong> the journalistic <strong>and</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional articlesanalysis, material <strong>of</strong> prevention, etc., a twenty phrases list was elaborated. These twentyphrases form the def<strong>in</strong>itive questionnaire which has to be answered select<strong>in</strong>g fourphrases blocks accord<strong>in</strong>g to the follow<strong>in</strong>g procedure:1. In the first block, you have to choose the sentences that seem to be closer to youridea about <strong>ecstasy</strong>.2. In the second, you have to choose among the sixteen sentences that rema<strong>in</strong>, theones that have less to do with your idea about <strong>ecstasy</strong>.3. In the third block, <strong>of</strong> the 12 rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g sentences, you have to choose aga<strong>in</strong> theclosest to your idea about <strong>ecstasy</strong>.4. In the fourth block, <strong>of</strong> the 8 that rema<strong>in</strong>, choose the furthest to your idea about<strong>ecstasy</strong>.All this will serve to obta<strong>in</strong> two types <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>formation:32
