3. To publicize among farmers <strong>and</strong> consumers of agricultural products,<br />

information on the use of agropesticidcs for preventing <strong>and</strong> exterminating<br />

plant pests. We hope that through this publicity, farmers <strong>and</strong> consumers<br />

will become informed about the advantages <strong>and</strong> disadvantages of using<br />

agropesticides, <strong>and</strong> of the precautions that should be taken to avoid leaving<br />

residual agropesticides that can cause pollution.<br />

WORK PLAN<br />

1. To hold training for:<br />

1.1 123 officials of the Agricultural Extension De<strong>part</strong>ment.<br />

1.2 30 officials of the Agriculture De<strong>part</strong>ment.<br />

1.3 83 officials of the Ministry of Public Health.<br />

1.4 40 officials of companies producing agricultural chemicals.<br />

1.5 11,450 officials of regional government agencies.<br />

2. Topics covered in the training:<br />

2.1 Policy <strong>and</strong> guidelines for safe use of agropesticides.<br />

2.2 Authority <strong>and</strong> responsibilities of government officials who are in<br />

charge of executing the Poisonous Act B.E. 2510.<br />

2.3 Coordination of work in prevention <strong>and</strong> extermination of plant pests<br />

among the Agriculture De<strong>part</strong>ment, the Agricultural Extension<br />

De<strong>part</strong>ment, <strong>and</strong> companies in the private sector; <strong>and</strong> guidelines for<br />

the use of agropesticides to control pests.<br />

2.4 Joint effort to publicize knowledge on correct <strong>and</strong> safe use of<br />

agropcsticides.<br />

3. Assessment of problems <strong>and</strong> ubstacles.<br />

Officials of each group attending the seminar will, in turn, tri,in other<br />

individuals concerned at different levels. After such training, problems <strong>and</strong><br />

obstacles will be recorded so that further action may be taken to determine<br />

remedial measures.<br />

METHOD OF OPERATION<br />

1. To require agencies <strong>and</strong> organizations concerned to prepare training courses,<br />

2. To provide training for officials concerned at different levels, <strong>and</strong><br />

3. To cooperate in giving training to five million farm families or 35 million<br />

farmers in accordance with the set target.<br />
