134 '<strong>Ali</strong> ibn <strong>Abi</strong> Tdlib in Makkah<br />

(viii) Abdullah ibn 'Umar ibn d-Kha~ib d-Qurashi d-<br />

'Adawi. He became a Muslim with his father before he<br />

reached the age <strong>of</strong> puberty. He died in Makkah in 63 AH,<br />

at the age <strong>of</strong> eighty-fo~r.~~~<br />

(ix) Abdullah ibn Mas'ood ibn GhZl ibn W2il al-Hudhali,<br />

one <strong>of</strong> the earliest Muslims. He died in 32 AH?"<br />

(x) 'Amr ibn Hurayth ibn 'Uthmk dQnrashi al-Makhzoomi,<br />

whose kunyah was Abu Sa'eed. He saw the Prophet (g)<br />

and heard from him, and the Prophet wiped his head and<br />

prayed for blessing for him. He settled in Knfah and was a<br />

man <strong>of</strong> honour and dignity and noble position. He died in<br />

85 AH?'<br />

Among the members <strong>of</strong> his family who narrated from him were:<br />

(i) His son al-Hasan ibn '<strong>Ali</strong>, the grandson <strong>of</strong> the Messenger<br />

<strong>of</strong> Auah (&).<br />

(ii) His son d-Husayn ibn '<strong>Ali</strong>, the grandson <strong>of</strong> the Messenger<br />

<strong>of</strong> Allah (g). He was killed on the day <strong>of</strong> 'Ashoora' in 61<br />

AH, when he was fifty-six years old.283<br />

(iii) His son Muhammad ibn '<strong>Ali</strong> ibn <strong>Abi</strong> Tilib Abu d-Qhim<br />

d-Madani, who was known as <strong>Ibn</strong> al-Hanafiyyah after his<br />

mother, Khawlah bint Ja'far ibn Qays, from Banu<br />

Haneefah. AlL'Ajli said: He was a trustworthy Tibi'i and a<br />

righteous man, who was known by the kunyah Abu al-<br />

Q2sim. He was born during the caliphate <strong>of</strong> 'Umar and<br />

died in 73 AH, or it was said 80, 81, 82, or 93 AH.284<br />

(iv) His grandson MnI.mrnmad ibn 'Umar ibn '<strong>Ali</strong> ibn <strong>Abi</strong><br />
