His high morale, which is apparent from his readiness to fight<br />

the polytheists if they headed towards Madinah.<br />

- The Prophet's confidence in '<strong>Ali</strong> (&) and his knowledge <strong>of</strong><br />

the characters <strong>of</strong> men.<br />

'<strong>Ali</strong>'s chivalry when he withdrew from his opponent after the<br />

latter's private parts became uncovered, and the Messenger <strong>of</strong><br />

Allah (g) approved <strong>of</strong> that. This action teaches us the value <strong>of</strong><br />

proper conduct and how one should act with high standards,<br />

even with the enemy and even on the battlefield.<br />

- The necessity <strong>of</strong> making sacrifices for the sake <strong>of</strong> Allah (s).<br />

With this attitude and spirit, Islam will prevail in this life, and<br />

the martyr will attain paradise. This is what was proven to us<br />

by some <strong>of</strong> the Muhsjireen and An$& in this battle and others.<br />

- The necessity <strong>of</strong> implementing the means. This was<br />

demonstrated when the Messenger <strong>of</strong> Allah (a) stationed<br />

some <strong>of</strong> the Companions on Mount Uhud, but they disobeyed<br />

him and came down, and this was one <strong>of</strong> the causes <strong>of</strong> defeat.<br />

- The courage <strong>of</strong> '<strong>Ali</strong> (&),<br />

because if this army had seen him<br />

when he was following them to find out what they were up to,<br />

they would not have hesitated to kill him.399<br />

5.8. '<strong>Ali</strong> (&) in the Campaign <strong>of</strong> Banu an-Nadeer<br />

The historians who examined this matter narrated that the<br />

campaign <strong>of</strong> Banu an-Nadeer took place in the month <strong>of</strong> Rabee' al-<br />

Awwal in the year 4 AH. <strong>Ibn</strong> alQayyim refuted those who said that<br />

the campaign <strong>of</strong> Banu an-Nadeer took place six months after Badr,<br />

by saying: ''M+ammad ibn Shihzb ai-Zuhri said that the Battle <strong>of</strong><br />

Banu an-Nadeer was six months after Badr, but this is a mistake or<br />

error on his part. There can be no doubt that it took place after mud.<br />

What happened six months after Badr was the campaign <strong>of</strong> Banu
