136 '<strong>Ali</strong> ibn <strong>Abi</strong> Tilib in Makkah<br />

after Shurayh. He narrated from his father, '<strong>Ali</strong>,<br />

Hudhayfah, AbduUah ibn Sal-, 'kishah and others. It<br />

was said that he died in 83 AH, or in 104 or 107 AH.'^'<br />

(iii) Abu 'Abdur-Rwin in-Sulami Abdullah ibn Habeeb ibn<br />

Rabee'ah, Abu 'Abdur-R*m& as-Sulami al-Kufi d-<br />

Qki'. His father was a Companion, and he was regarded<br />

as trustworthy by al-'AjLi, an-NasVi and Abu Diwood. He<br />

narrated from 'Umar, 'Uthmin, '<strong>Ali</strong>, Sa'd, KhSllid ibn al-<br />

Wdeed, <strong>Ibn</strong> Mas'ood, Hudhayfah and others. It was said<br />

that he died in 72 AH or 85 AH when he was eighty-five<br />

years old. He was present with '<strong>Ali</strong> at ~iffeen.'~~<br />

(iv) Zurr ibn Hubaysh ibn Hubibah ibn Aws al-Asadi Abu<br />

Maryam; it was said that he was also known as Abu<br />

Mutanif al-Kufi. <strong>Ibn</strong> Ma'een stated that he was<br />

tmstworthy. He died in 81,82 or 83 AH, at the age <strong>of</strong> 120<br />

years. 293<br />

(v) Zayd ibn Wahb al-Juhani, from (the tribe <strong>of</strong>) QudVah,<br />

who was known by the kunyah Abu Sulaymk. He was<br />

one <strong>of</strong> the most prominent and trustworthy <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Tibi'oon, and there is general consensus that his hadith<br />

may be used as evidence. He was regarded as trustworthy<br />

by <strong>Ibn</strong> Ma'een and others. He died around 90 AH, during<br />

the governorship <strong>of</strong> d-~ajjij.~~~<br />

(vi) Snwayd Ghaflah ibn 'Awsajah ibn 'Amir, who was<br />

known by the kunyah Abu Umayyah. He travelled to meet<br />

the Messenger <strong>of</strong> Allah (g), but the Prophet died before<br />

he could meet him. He accompanied Abu Bakr, 'Umar,<br />

'Uthmin and '<strong>Ali</strong>, and he died in 81 or 82 AH, at the age<br />

<strong>of</strong> 128.~~~<br />
