By installing NevoLinks one at a time, you avoid confusing which NevoLink is in which location. Since you will assign each action for a device to a specific NevoLink, setting up each NevoLink individually ensures that the NevoLink controls the correct device without having to guess. Installer Tip: You can see the friendly name, MAC Address, and firmware version of NevoLink in the NevoLink Properties dialog box. To begin adding NevoLink functions to your configuration: 1. Connect the first NevoLink to the network. See the NevoLink Quick Guide for more information. 2. Click Tools|Discover NevoLinks or Refresh ( ) on the Nevo Ecoystem tab. NevoStudio Pro will search the network for any connected NevoLinks. Installer Tip: Make sure you do not have NevoLinks with different firmware versions on the same network. To update a NevoLink to the latest firmware, select the desired NevoLink from within NevoStudio Pro in the Nevo Ecosystem tab and click the Update NevoLink Firmware icon in the toolbar. Please note that firmware versions prior to 6.11 are no longer supported. Installer Tip: If you are performing a firmware update (upgrading from NevoStudio 2.0 to NevoStudio Pro, for example) this discovery process may take several passes to reconfigure each NevoLink with optimized parameters the first time you run the upgraded NevoStudio Pro. This is normal, and has to do with the upgraded NevoLink functionality in the latest version of NevoStudio Pro. 158 NevoStudio Pro Design Guide
Configuring Nevo Ecosystems Identifying Available Nevo Ecosystem Hardware in NevoStudio Pro Whenever a NevoLink is reconfigured you will see a dialog which asks that you initiate discovery again: Click Retry until the NevoLink is discovered. 3. Verify that the NevoLink appears in the Nevo Ecosystem tab: If it does not, check the signal path, then repeat. A grayed out NevoLink icon next to the name indicates that the NevoLink was discovered during a previous discovery session but has not been discovered this session. Check the signal path and the NevoLink settings (see below), and refresh again. Various status icons are used to represent the state of the NevoLinks: NevoLink discovered in current session, but not yet assigned to device NevoLink discovered in current session and assigned to device NevoLink using older version of firmware discovered NevoLink not discovered in current session NevoLink assigned to device, but not discovered in current session NevoLink discovered, but could not be validated While introduced briefly here, these icons will be covered in more detail in Troubleshooting NevoLink later in this chapter. • The ghosted icon (shown at the top in the example) indicates that NevoLink was discovered and saved in the configuration, but has not been discovered during the current session. • The exclamation mark indicates that a NevoLink device was seen on the network but could not be validated.
