Dynamic/Static IP Address
Networked devices such as computers, Nevo S70 , and NevoLink use IP
Addresses to locate and talk to each other on the network, much the same
way people use phone numbers to locate and talk to one another on the
telephone. NevoLink must have an IP Address to communicate with your
client's home network. There are two options for IP Addresses:
• Dynamic, where the IP Address is automatically assigned when the
device signs on to the network (this address may change from time to
time).
• Static, where the device always uses the same IP Address to sign on to
the network.
In most cases, you will choose Dynamic. Be sure you know the client’s
networking address parameters and are familiar with basic network
addressing protocols; since NevoLink is simply another node on their
network, it must conform to standard network address conventions.
Updating NevoLink Firmware
All the files required to update your NevoLink are included as part of the
standard NevoStudio Pro application installation. There are two files
required to update NevoLink. If either of these is missing, you will see a
dialog like this:
Installer Tip: Before starting the update process, make sure the connection
path between the computer running NevoStudio Pro and NevoLink
is stable and preferably an all wired path.
Installer Tip: Before starting the update process, make sure you have saved
the NevoLink as part of a configuration in NevoStudio Pro so that
you can more easily troubleshoot any possible issues that may occur
during the update process.
Installer Tip: Make sure you do not have NevoLinks with different firmware
versions on the same network. Please note that firmware versions
prior to 6.11 are no longer supported.
Installer Tip: If you are performing a firmware update (upgrading from
NevoStudio 2.0 to NevoStudio Pro, for example) this discovery
