Szczecin and Swinoujscie<br />
The c<strong>on</strong>venient locati<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> Szczecin and Swinoujscie ports is reinforced by a quality railway<br />
network c<strong>on</strong>necting <strong>the</strong> two ports with <strong>the</strong> business centers in Western and Sou<strong>the</strong>rn <strong>Europe</strong> by<br />
<strong>the</strong> l<strong>on</strong>g-distance railway line Oder and with Szczecin and Poznań. The E-59 and C-E 59 railway<br />
lines c<strong>on</strong>nect <strong>the</strong> port with <strong>the</strong> central and sou<strong>the</strong>rn part of Poland and with Sou<strong>the</strong>rn and Eastern<br />
<strong>Europe</strong>. The Szczecin - Berlin railway interc<strong>on</strong>nects <strong>the</strong> two Polish ports with <strong>the</strong> railway network in<br />
Germany.<br />
The E65 speedway links <strong>the</strong> ports of Szczecin and Swinoujscie with <strong>the</strong> motorway network<br />
leading to <strong>the</strong> Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary and Slovenia. Szczecin and<br />
Berlin are c<strong>on</strong>nected with <strong>the</strong> A11 motorway (E28) and thus with <strong>the</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>an motorway network.<br />
The twin ports are also c<strong>on</strong>nected with <strong>the</strong> Western <strong>Europe</strong>an inland waterway network.<br />
In 1998, a large part of <strong>the</strong> Szczecin - Berlin waterway was modernized <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> German side; <strong>the</strong><br />
modernizati<strong>on</strong> in <strong>the</strong> full length is scheduled for <strong>the</strong> year 2010. These adjustments are supposed to<br />
make <strong>the</strong> transportati<strong>on</strong> more effective by utilizing larger cargo vessels and supporting regular<br />
c<strong>on</strong>tainer transportati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
