3.1.3 The price for using waterway transport infrastructure<br />

The use of waterways <strong>on</strong> a river is not subjected to fees. According to <strong>the</strong> Law <strong>on</strong> waters, a<br />

river does not bel<strong>on</strong>g to any owner, is c<strong>on</strong>sidered as a public property and thus its utilizati<strong>on</strong> and<br />

parking of vessels cannot be charged. However, selected secti<strong>on</strong>s of artificial waterways are<br />

charged, e.g. <strong>the</strong> channel link between <strong>the</strong> Rhein, <strong>the</strong> Main and <strong>the</strong> Danube rivers.<br />

3.1.3.1 The Czech Republic<br />

There are no fees for using a waterway for cargo transport in <strong>the</strong> Czech Republic, according to<br />

<strong>the</strong> “comm<strong>on</strong> law”. The entry <strong>on</strong> a waterway is free of charge also for private vessels. There are no<br />

charges for passing through chamber locks ei<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
