2.3.2 The Czech Republic<br />

The Czech Republic exports most of <strong>the</strong> chemicals (<strong>the</strong> SITC 5 category) into Germany (more<br />

than 20 % of <strong>the</strong> total volume of exported chemicals), Slovakia (more than 14 %) and Poland<br />

(approx. 11 %). As for <strong>the</strong> import of chemicals, more than 30 % of <strong>the</strong> total volume of imports<br />

originates in Germany, approx. 7 % in France and more than 5 % in Italy, Poland, Belgium and <strong>the</strong><br />

Ne<strong>the</strong>rlands.<br />

The domestic nati<strong>on</strong>al transport of chemicals in <strong>the</strong> Czech Republic showed significant<br />

decrease in 2008 compared to <strong>the</strong> previous four years. The decrease was by about a half<br />

compared to <strong>the</strong> year 2007.<br />
