3.1.1.2 Germany<br />
In Germany, <strong>the</strong> roads subjected to fees are motorways – approx. 12.600 km (since 1 st January<br />
2005) and selected secti<strong>on</strong>s of federate roads (since 1 st January 2007). The legal basis are <strong>the</strong> law<br />
<strong>on</strong> motorway toll, <strong>the</strong> regulati<strong>on</strong> setting <strong>the</strong> toll rate, <strong>the</strong> regulati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> cargo toll and <strong>the</strong> regulati<strong>on</strong><br />
<strong>on</strong> toll-duty distributi<strong>on</strong>. Nei<strong>the</strong>r tunnels nor bridges are charged in Germany.<br />
