4.6.6.1 Tax reliefs for freight transport and subsidies to o<strong>the</strong>r modes of transport<br />
In some of <strong>the</strong> neighboring countries, <strong>the</strong>re are certain ec<strong>on</strong>omic allowances for envir<strong>on</strong>mental<br />
friendly transport modes, particularly in <strong>the</strong> field of fuel c<strong>on</strong>sumer taxes. Tax reliefs for transport<br />
are not introduced in <strong>the</strong> CR (<strong>the</strong> <strong>on</strong>ly relief is for farmers – green diesel). Direct subsidies for<br />
individual transport modes are following:<br />
• Road freight transport does not receive grants or subsidies. The envir<strong>on</strong>mental aspect<br />
is presented in different prices of road tolls.<br />
• Railway cargo transport is involved in certain programmes for combined transport (not<br />
permanently, but in some years - e.g. <strong>the</strong> RoLa between Lovosice and Dresden funded<br />
annually by 60 milli<strong>on</strong> CZK, purchase of <strong>the</strong> Sgnss wag<strong>on</strong>s from grants).<br />
• For waterway transport, programme OPD is in progress (modernizati<strong>on</strong> of inland<br />
vessels). It includes three projects of <strong>the</strong> total grant 133 milli<strong>on</strong> CZK. The subsidies for<br />
vessel operators to cover losses caused by insufficient navigati<strong>on</strong> drafts <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> lower<br />
secti<strong>on</strong> of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Elbe</strong> river are awaiting approval of <strong>the</strong> CR government.<br />
