Scott Wells - Planning Committee Chair We are pleased to present <strong>the</strong> proceedings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>10th</strong> <strong>International</strong> <strong>Colloquium</strong> on Paratuberculosis (ICP) held at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Minnesota West Bank campus from August 9-14, 2009 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sponsored by <strong>the</strong> <strong>International</strong> Association for Paratuberculosis, <strong>the</strong> ICP attracted over 300 scientists and administrators from universities, research organizations, and industry as well as state veterinary representatives and producers. The scientific program <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ICP included oral and poster presentations from international speakers invited to give plenary lectures and dedicated scientists reporting new results in a number <strong>of</strong> focused scientific sessions. An extension outreach workshop for veterinarians and animal producers on August 10, sponsored by Johne’s Disease Integrated Program, focused on field application <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> more basic research conducted around <strong>the</strong> world. The Scientific Committee has been working hard behind <strong>the</strong> scenes to get abstracts reviewed and assembled into <strong>the</strong> book you are now holding. In total, we received 210 abstracts representing <strong>the</strong> latest science in Johne’s disease. We hope you will find <strong>the</strong> science stimulating with plenty <strong>of</strong> time built in for conversations with colleagues during <strong>the</strong> breaks. We have decided to run two sessions concurrently at this meeting in order to maximize <strong>the</strong> 4.5-day timeframe. These sessions, Pathogenomics & MAP Biology as well as MAP Control Programs, will be held on Wednesday morning August 12th . Although not finalized at this writing, we hope to have audio CDs for at least <strong>the</strong>se two sessions in case attendees want to hear <strong>the</strong> talks from <strong>the</strong> session <strong>the</strong>y had to miss. Finally, we have made an effort to elevate <strong>the</strong> exposure <strong>of</strong> poster presentations at this meeting. Poster titles will be displayed on-screen during session breaks and <strong>the</strong> perspectives speakers and/or conveners may mention a few as well. The posters will be displayed throughout <strong>the</strong> meeting and a session dedicated to <strong>the</strong>m will be held on Tuesday afternoon August 11th . In closing we would like to especially thank Søren Nielsen, past Scientific Committee chair (8th ICP), for assisting us with <strong>the</strong> abstract database and abstract submission system.
