PURON was formed in late 2001 as a spin out company from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Aachen, <strong>and</strong> was subsequently acquired by Koch <strong>Membrane</strong> Systems in 2004. <strong>The</strong><br />

membrane element is the submerged HF-type based on 2.6 mm o.d. <strong>and</strong> 1.2 mm<br />

internal diameter (i.d.) filaments. Unlike most other submerged HF <strong>MBR</strong> modules, the<br />

membrane material is PES. A unique feature <strong>of</strong> the PURON ® system is the securing
