DOcUMENTO “FAMET”
Dalla creazione dell’unità di aviazione leggera il 10
luglio 1965, le unità di elicotteri dell’Esercito hanno
incrementato le capacità delle unità di superficie.
In dicembre 1971 si è prodotto il primo intervento
delle FAMET in operazioni reali, con lo spiegamento
nell’Ayun (Sahara) dell’unità UHEL II.
Da aprile 1991, con lo spiegamento di un’unità di
elicotteri nel Kurdistan iracheno, comincia un periodo di
partecipazione delle FAMET in operazioni nel estero di
nostre frontiere.
In questi 20 anni, e dopo 20.000 ore di volo, gli elicotteri
delle FAMET hanno percorso la Bosnia-Ercegovina,
l’Albania, il Kosovo, il Mozambico, l’Iraq, il Kirghizistan,
l’Afghanistan e il Libano, fedeli all’adempimento del dovere
e delle missioni che la Spagna vi ha raccomandato.

Since the establishment on 10 July, 1965 of the Light
Aviation Unit, the helicopter units of the Spanish Army
have been increasing the capabilities of their surface units.
In December, 1971, the Spanish Army Aviation Units
(FAMET) took part, for the first time, in campaign operations
by deploying the 2nd Light Helicopter Unit (UHEL
II) in L’ayoun (Western Sahara).
The deployment of a helicopter unit in Iraqi Kurdistan
in April, 1991, marks the beginning of a period of participation
of FAMET units operations abroad.
In these 20 years, and after 20,000 flight hours, the
skies of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Mozambique,
Iraq, Kirghizstan, Afghanistan y Lebanon have
seen flying the FAMET helicopters, stuck to the line of
duty and faithful to the missions Spain has entrusted to
them.

Arab Spring has brought the winds of change to societies
that, up to now, seemed lethargic. But whereas

erano, a priori, simili, non può dirsi lo stesso di altri paesi
come la Libia o la Siria. Se bene tutto appunta a che le
rivolte iniziate nella Tunisia hanno segnato il flusso degli
avvenimenti, può dirsi che in alcuni di questi paesi i ribelli
si sono profittati precisamente di quelle manifestazioni
spontanee e laiche di società come la tunisina, ed incluso
anche l’egiziana, per perseguitare obiettivi che, in molti
casi non sono completamente chiari.

In piena ondata di giubilo per la nomina del nuovo
presidente degli Stati Uniti e con la percezione dello
“yes, we can” si può risolvere la maggiore parte dei
problemi attuali; il proprio Obama assundé personalmente
l’intento di finire con il conflitto per, alcuni
mesi seguenti, segnalare l’esagerata difficoltà di questo
processo.
Le grandi contraddizioni interne degli attori direttamente
implicati nel conflitto –palestini ed israeliani- diminuiscono
la possibilità di trovare una soluzione; per
questo, soltanto sarà possibile raggiungere la pace se,
malgrado gli intenti di Obama, gli attori realmente la
volgono. L’alternativa sarebbe una nuova guerra.

At the height of the rejoicing sparked off by the
election as new President of the United States of Barack
Obama, and in the perception that “at last” most of the
current problems could be solved, Obama himself took
on personally the attempt of solving once and forever
the Arab-Israeli conflict. Yet, after several months’ toil,
he had to recognize the extreme difficulty such process
entails.
The huge internal contradictions of the actors directly
involved in the conflict –Palestinians and Israelis- hamper
the possibility of a solution. Therefore, peace will be attained
only if, besides Obama´s attempts, the actors really
want it. The alternative is a new war.
