Recent winner of the Tucson Poetry Festival
Competition, Leilani Wight is the co-editor of
Contemporary Arizona Poets (University of
Arizona Press). She published an excellent
article, Literary E-Zines, in the Nov.-Dec '96
issue of the widely read publication, Poets &
Writers Magazine. She was born in Hawaii but
has lived in the desert the majority of her life. "It
suits me, although I feel the pull of the Islands,
the love of water, the need to swim through it.
Perhaps I create my own island oasis by sharing
an old house with my husband and daughter in
an irrigation neighborhood within the city of
Mesa." She is also author of the chapbook, A
Natural Good Shot (White Eagle Coffee Store
Press, 1994). Her poems have recently appeared
in Hayden's Ferry Review, Exquisite Corpse,
The South Carolina Review, Hawai'i Review,
Switched-On Guttenberg, and Recursive Angel.
