vivono condizioni difficili.

Since it was founded, CCS has
supported over 30,000 children at
a distance. It has been able to do
this thanks to the trust of an equal
number of donors who have
chosen to take their solidarity
“beyond borders”. Support at a
distance creates the magic of an
encounter between two
individuals, between the North
and the South of the world. A
cultural encounter like that of a
penpal. Something that can last
for years, and sometime leads to a
face to face meeting where the
donor can visit the child and his
school and community. The latter
also benefits from the economic
contribution given by the support.
The collaboration that we are
inaugurating in this issue with
Blue Liguria – which is another
wholly Ligurian reality that opens
across borders – is destined to be a
way of speaking to an ever greater
number of people. To get them to
know about our activity, even
those on Genoese territory. To help
them discover how simple it is to
help us help a child, one of the far
too many children who live in
difficult conditions.

Laboratori e regali solidali per il Natale di CCS
Workshops and Solidarity Christmas Gifts from CCS
Fare un acquisto al negozio di giocattoli di CCS, in
pieno centro storico a Genova, è come fare due
regali al prezzo di uno: il dono al proprio
bambino, scelto tra la vasta offerta di giochi
educativi ed ecologici, in legno, cartone o
plastiche riciclate, presenti in negozio, e quello ai
250 bambini di Nhambira, in Mozambico, che
grazie al ricavato delle vendite avranno presto
una vera scuola dove studiare.
Ma le idee di regalo solidale suggerite da CCS
non si fermano qui, come dimostra il Catalogo
Natale 2012 allegato a questo numero: si può
avviare il sostegno collettivo a una scuola o
persino acquistare un bufalo per una famiglia
nepalese, o un banco per una classe
mozambicana, e trasformare questi gesti nei nostri regali di Natale
per amici e famigliari.
Ogni mese il negozio CCS dedica ai bambini anche un laboratorio artisticoeducativo,
basato sul gioco, l’illustrazione e la riflessione sui temi dello
sviluppo e della cooperazione: i prossimi appuntamenti sono domenica 11
novembre al Teatro della Tosse e sabato 1 dicembre al Laboratorio Sociale di

If you purchase a toy at the CCS toy shop in the center of Genoa’s old city, you
give two presents for the price of one. You are giving your own child a gift
chosen from the shop’s vast offering of educational and ecological games made
of wood, cardboard or recycled plastic. But you are also helping provide a school
for 250 children in Nhambira, Mozambique. It is thanks to the proceeds on sales
that they will have a real school in which to study.
But the list of ideas for gifts suggested by CCS does not stop here. Just take a
look at the 2012 Christmas Catalogue attached to this issue. You can start
collective support for a school or buy a buffalo for a family in Nepal, or desks
for a classroom in Mozambique, and thereby transform these gestures into
Christmas gifts for friends and family.
CCS also holds each month an artistic –educational workshop for children,
based on play, illustration, and reflection on the themes of development and
cooperation. The next one will be held on Sunday, November 11 at the theatre,
Teatro della Tosse and Saturday, December1 at the Laboratorio Sociale di Vico
