L’ Cereria Bancalari e &
Bruno di Luigi Chiarella ovvero
un artigianato di quattro secoli fa.
È un tempio della cera con
macchinari in ferro massiccio che
hanno due secoli di onorata
attività da cui escono ceri e
candele per tutte le chiese di
Chiavari e del circondario e di
molte città di altre regioni.
L’attività era stata aperta dalla
famiglia Bancalari nel 1592,
successivamente si era formata
una società con la famiglia Bruno
e in un secondo tempo è
subentrata la famiglia Chiarella
che gestisce l’azienda ancora oggi.
La famiglia Cordani, dal
lontano 1849, tiene viva l’antica
tradizione della tessitura dei
velluti lisci ed operati in seta con
telai in legno (nella foto). Il
laboratorio e il punto vendita si
trovano a Zoagli. Con la
direzione di Magda Cordani, nel
2005, l’azienda opera in due

L’ Cereria Bancalari & Bruno

old craftsmanship. The existing
machinery, in massive iron, has
for the last two centuries enabled
this company to carry out the
honored activity of providing
tapers and candles for all the
churches in Chiavari and the
surrounding area, not to mention
those of other regions. The
Bancalari family began it in 1592.
They were followed by the Bruno
family, and then the Chiarella
family also became part. They are
still running the company today.

lavorazione meccanica, capi di
abbigliamento per uomo e
donna, stoffe e tessuti per
arredamento di ville e uffici. La
famiglia Cordani, nei 163 anni di
lavoro artigianale, ha creato e
conservato un archivio storico
con più di 70 disegni per
soddisfare ogni esigenza e gusto
dei clienti.

Under Magda Cordani, in 2005,
the company began to operate in
two sectors with two distinct
companies. There is Cordani
Velluti, where the main activity
of weaving smooth Genoese
velvet by hand – dating to the
1500s – is carried out, and the
Seterie di Zoagli where
mechanical means are used to
make apparel for men and
women, cloths and fabrics for the
furnishings of villas and offices.
The Cordani family, in 163 years
of artisan work, has created and
conserved a historic archive with
over 70 drawings to satisfy a
client’s every need and desire.
