Gerry Scotti vive con la Liguria una love story
che va avanti da cinquant’anni. In una
carriera di successi in radio e tv e di giri in
Italia e nel mondo, il popolare presentatore pavese
ha sempre mantenuto una fedeltà di fondo
verso la terra in cui per la prima volta ha visto il
mare da bambino.
È stato un amore a prima vista?
Diciamo che sono arrivato, tantissimi anni fa, per
non andarmene più, almeno col cuore.
Che cosa le piace di più?
Poter stare a contatto con il mare. Solo vederlo è
una grande emozione. Poi ci sono il ricordo delle
tante belle vacanze vissute qui, e la speranza di
viverne tante altre.
Lei che è famoso anche come gourmet, della
Liguria ama anche la cucina?
Ovviamente sì, ma ciò che amo di più è la sensazione
che la Liguria mi dà dell’essere in vacanza,
un posto in cui fin da bambino sono sempre stato
felice, con i miei familiari, gli amici e le persone
che proprio qui ho conosciuto. Quest’estate ho
viaggiato tra Canada, Umbria e Puglia, ma senza
dimenticare di fare una puntatina ad Alassio.
Proprio ad Alassio c’è un amico con cui ha pure
un ottimo rapporto di lavoro, Antonio Ricci.
Con Ricci ho lavorato - e bene - a Striscia la Notizia.
Ad Alassio poi ogni anno vengo a presentare
l’assegnazione del premio letterario Centolibri
per l’Europa, una manifestazione importante che
sta crescendo bene.
In tempi di crisi economica, politica, sociale,
morale, non rischiano di restringersi ancora gli
spazi per la cultura?
Il rischio c’è, ma sarebbe una iattura. La cultura
deve essere un riferimento imprescindibile per
la nostra società, oltre che un modo per recuperare
le idee e le forze necessarie a uscire dal
tunnel.
Gerry Scotti has a love story going on with
Liguria which has lasted fifty years. During his
successful career on the radio, the TV, and
across the world, the popular presenter from Pavia has
always kept a soft place in his heart for the land
where he first saw the sea as a child.
Was it love at first sight?
Let us say that I got to that point years ago, and then
never left, at least in my heart.
What do you like the most?
To be in contact with the sea. Just to see the sea fills
me with emotion. And then there are the memories of
all those beautiful holidays spent here, with the hope
of experiencing some more.
You are also famous as a gourmet. Do you like
Ligurian cuisine?
Obviously yes. But what I like the most is the
sensation that Liguria gives me of being on vacation.
This is a place where, ever since I was a child, I have
been happy. With my family, my friends, the people I
have met here. This summer I traveled between
Canada, Umbria, and Puglia, but I did not forget to
make a stop in Alassio.
And it is right there in Alassio where you have a
friend with whom you have an excellent work
relationship, Antonio Ricci.
I worked – and worked well - with Ricci on Striscia la
Notizia [a satirical TV news show]. And then, every
year I come back to Alassio to present the literary
prize, Centolibri per l’Europa (100 Books for Europe),
which is an important event which is growing nicely.
In times of economic, politic, social, and moral
crisis, doesn’t the space for culture become more
restricted?
The risk is there, but it would be very unfortunate.
Culture should be an essential reference for our
society, in addition to being a way to recover the
ideas and the strength necessary to find the light at
the end of the tunnel.
