Il celebre presepe "notturno" di
Manarola, che dall’8 dicembre a fine
gennaio illumina l'intera collina delle
Tre Croci. Composto da più di
trecento figure realizzate a
grandezza d’uomo in ferro ritorto
poste tra i vigneti, si accende con
15.000 lampadine
The famous “night” crèche in
Manarola will light up the whole hill
of the Tre Croci above the town
from December 8 to the end of
January. More than 300 man-sized
figures made in twisted iron, and
placed among the vineyards are lit
by over 15,000 light bulbs
scuola in Afghanistan. Sembrano utopie, ma sarebbe
bellissimo.
gift. Children’s gifts normally come first, being the
easiest, and things always (or almost always) go right.
Serious problems are incurred instead when you are
seeking the ideal gift for the friend, the colleague, the
wife, or – there is no limit to making things worse – the
wife’s friend. Women normally do this better. It is all in
their shopping genes. Even if social roles and certainties
are trembling dangerously, the female of the human
species is more at ease in these situations; she has more
taste; more ideas. This is the reason for which the great
dream of the male of the couple is to pass the buck,
regarding Christmas acquisitions, to the former.
I personally have never managed this. Ever since I have
had money to spend, at Christmas I have spent it
exclusively on books. I walk into a bookshop on the
afternoon of December 24, and I walk out with all my
presents, bought in one go. I don’t even use the alibi of
culture. Allow me to advise it, it is a unique sensation –
walk out of the bookshop, and you are free.
The problem is, by doing so, during the years, I have
given thousand of books to many people who probably
have never read two lines of anything in their lives. And
those interesting sorts who use books as interior design
objects, and choose them by the color tones of their
covers? In any case, this whole consumerism story
relating to Christmas delirium, is the clear demonstration
that we are reaching the end of the line. We are a society
on the fruit course. Or even better, on the dessert course,
on the Christmas panettone. Ok, every occasion is a good
one for a celebration.
If I really had to come up with the desire for something
to open on Christmas morning, I would be happy with a
law against corruption that does not come to the same
end as the last one that was proposed. Or, since I suppose
I can’t ask Santa Claus to get rid of the whole gang of
our parliamentarians by having the roof of the
Montecitorio palace collapse on them, why don’t we at
least, in Liguria, set off a revolution for Christmas 2012.
Starting from this year, no more gifts of ties that can’t be
worn two years down the line, nor the awful scarves of
Christmas 2011. Let all of our gifts go into more sensible
things. Like the building of a hospital in Africa, or a
school in Afghanistan. It may seem utopian, but it would
be nice… (testo raccolto dalla redazione)
