E finalmente arriviamo, insieme ai Mann, a Sanremo,

da ville e giardini, ha un’aria da grande

consigliano il des Anglais e citano
Royal e Miramare -ci sono ancora tutti, in caso
di pellegrinaggio letterario- i negozi invece no.
Gli unici due intatti sono la boutique antiquaria
di Giuliana Zoccai in corso Imperatrice, poco oltre
il Casino. Di certo la boutique rasenta il secolo
di vita e gli oggetti -non eccessivamente
cari- sono strepitosi. Già, Sanremo evoca lusso e
opulenza, infatti c’è anche la gioielleria Gori -
via Matteotti- che vanta un’età rispettabile, ma
un arredo rinnovato. Originale, invece, quello interno
e l’insegna della calzoleria Ligure in viale
Matteotti. Lusso per lusso, si passa alla gastronomia:
le salumerie Crespi e Bellin, la
pasticceria San Romolo.

And finally, we reach Sanremo with the Manns. Here
“calculations reign supreme. Serious casino players,
determined to ruin themselves, take their betting
very seriously, as much as in Cannes or Monte

The Manns eat spaghetti at the Hotel Europa, but

pilgrimage, but the shops are not. Only two are still
intact. One is the antique shop belonging to
Giuliana Zoccai on Corso Imperatrice, just beyond
the Casino (where the boutique’s century of age is
clearly felt, though its items – which are not even
too expensive – are fabulous). Yes, luxury and
opulence. There is also the jewelry shop called Gori
– on Via Matteotti – whose age is respectable, but
whose interior has been renovated, unlike the shoe
shop, Calzoleria Ligure, on Viale Matteotti, where
even the sign is intact. Luxury for luxury, let’s move
on to gastronomy. The salami-makers, Crespi e
Bellin, and the San Romolo pastry shop.
