in our Delebio plant are produced for food and pharmaceutical<br />
packaging. One-third of this production is machined<br />
in the Mandello converting plant and our clients turn it into<br />
containers and flexible films which come into direct contact<br />
with food and medicines. We cannot therefore have any<br />
doubts as to the safety of the material”. Baldassarre Agnelli,<br />
President, Pentole Agnelli, fully agrees: “Aluminium is an<br />
ideal material for cooking food and has no caveats when it<br />
comestohealth.Theonlywarningforconsumers,asmentioned<br />
by the 2007 Ministerial Decree no. 76 on packaging,<br />
is not to keep very salty or very acidic foods in aluminium<br />
pots or containers for over 24 hours at room temperature”.<br />
Aluminium and our health<br />
Aluminium has been present and appreciated in the food<br />
sectoreversinceitappearedamongindustrialmaterials.<br />
Nowadaysineveryhouseholdorrestaurantkitchenthere<br />
arealuminiumpots,pansandcontainerstocookorstore<br />
food. Aluminium is also widely used in food and pharmaceutical<br />
packaging as rigid or flexible containers of every shape<br />
and size, with great advantages in terms of practicality, efficiency<br />
and reduction of the environmental footprint given<br />
thetotalrecyclabilityofthismaterial.Inspiteofthis,atregular<br />
intervals, fake news items bounce uncontrolled on the<br />
web,socialmediaandthepress,soundingalarmsonthedanger<br />
of aluminium in foods, a possible cause of neurodegenerative<br />
diseases. However, scientific lenience and all clinical<br />
studies carried out so far debunk this hoax, as Raffaella Bonacina,<br />
Carcano’s Quality Assurance manager, pointed out:<br />

e false notizie<br />
Sfatare false notizie e leggende metropolitane che vedono<br />
nella presenza di alluminio nell’alimentazione un pericolo per<br />
la salute. Con questo obiettivo Centroal, il Gruppo Alluminio di<br />
Assomet, ha organizzato lo scorso 15 giugno una giornata informativa<br />
dedicata alla stampa e a diversi professionisti della<br />
comunicazione per fare chiarezza sulla sicurezza dell’alluminio<br />
e in particolare dei prodotti in alluminio destinati al<br />
contatto con gli alimenti. L’iniziativa fa parte del programma<br />
di comunicazione AFFG Aluminium for Future Generations di<br />
Centroal e ha coinvolto due aziende italiane particolarmente<br />
significative per comprendere e “toccare con mano” il processo<br />
industriale che trasforma pani e lingotti grezzi negli innumerevoli<br />
prodotti che, nell’industria alimentare e nelle cuci-<br />
