visions and strong relationships, are often accompanied by a lack of endurance, disci-
pline, dependence on God, grace and realism. If success does not show as quickly as ex-
pected, or if support by strong relationships, either through family or friends, is not guar-
anteed, Latins get easily discouraged. It is not uncommon, to find a hyper-spirituality or
an attitude of spiritual superiority preventing healthy accountability structures and open-
ness for correction. The Swiss discipline, realism and constancy could prove to be com-
plementary in Latin Migrant’s mission initiatives. On the other hand, Latin visionary en-
thusiasm and drive could enrich Swiss reservation and their tendency to remain fixed to
the idea of accomplishing only that which is humanly possible.
3.3 Final Considerations for Partnering in Two-Way Mission
Finally, some recommendations are made which could help develop partnership in these
mission efforts, but could also pose a challenge to Swiss churches:
1. to recognize migration as a potential for unplanned mission,
2. to allow for a learning process of Swiss churches,
3. to facilitate true integration of Latins in church and culture,
4. to support Latin mission initiatives,
5. to make human and financial resources available,
6. to facilitate sending and receiving missionaries in true partnership, and
7. to network of existing Latin groups and their mission efforts.
Mission through migration needs a platform to experiment, evaluate and modify
this new model within the framework of understanding and co-operation by Swiss Chris-
tians and integration within Swiss churches. Only our love for Christ, his church and his
commission will make such a partnership in mission between Swiss and Latin brothers
and sisters possible (Joh 13,35). Wetzel concludes, that it seems as if the new evangelisa-
tion of the once Christian Western World is only possible with the help of Christians
from Asia, Africa and Latin America.
